More than 9,000 Bristol City supporters made their voices heard when academy graduate Tommy Conway equalised in their FA Cup clash against West Ham.
On a cold Sunday afternoon in East London, Liam Manning’s side secured a hard-fought draw to force a third-round replay at Ashton Gate.
West Ham opened the scoring early on through in-form striker Jarrod Bowen, who has registered 16 goals so far in all competitions this season.
But the resilient Robins, who currently sit 11th in the Championship, continued to play on the front foot as Sam Bell and Rob Dickie were denied by Lukasz Fabianski.
Then, in the 61st minute, the impressive Tommy Conway ran in behind before beating Poland international Fabianski with a powerful effort.
You can see that goal, and the scenes that followed, below:
Many were impressed by the so-called ‘limbs’ inside the London Stadium, as thousands of Bristol City supporters celebrated their deserved equaliser.
One fan wrote: “Proper limbs them, 10x better than Newcastle yesterday,” while second commented: “Just watching the game now. Proper limbs after the equaliser. Respect Bristol City fans.”
A third said: “Credit to Bristol City fans. Probably the best limbs at the bowl of the season so far,” while another West Ham supporter wrote: “Fair play Bristol City best limbs I’ve ever seen at the London Stadium.”
A fifth added: “Bristol City 11th in the Championship went to the home of the current Europa Conference Champions and earned a replay. Fair play to them. Great support as well.”
As expected, City boss Liam Manning was more than pleased with his team’s efforts against Premier League opposition.
“I’m delighted with the lads, especially second half. We started slowly but the way we responded was terrific,” he said.
“In the second half we showed conviction and bravery high up. I’m proud of the lads. The lads deserve so much credit against difficult opposition.
“We have to take the learning from it and use it as a benchmark. You can’t just raise your game for Premier League opposition in the cup at a big ground. You have to transfer it into the league.”
