Fans left surprised after learning how much Michael Olise will earn at Bayern Munich

Fans have been left surprised upon learning how much Michael Olise will earn at Bayern Munich after completing his transfer from Crystal Palace.

Olise moves to the Allianz Arena on a five-year contract after Bayern triggered his £60 million release clause.

The 22-year-old becomes the second senior player, after the former Stuttgart centre-back Hiroki Ito, to sign for the club under the new management of Vincent Kompany.

Speaking to Bayern’s official website after completing the move, Olise said: “I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club.

“It’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for.

“I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”

The former Reading midfielder ends a three-year spell at Palace where he scored 14 Premier League goals – including 10 goals in his final campaign.

Chelsea triggered his £35 million release clause last summer, but he instead chose to sign an improved contract with Palace that significantly increased that clause.

According to the Daily Mirror, Olise is set to earn a stunning £220,000-a-week while at Bayern – double the amount he earned at Selhurst Park.

But while fans are surprised at such an increase, the France youth international actually falls within the middle of the pack when it comes to comparing his salary against his team-mates.

Capology claim that Bayern’s highest earner is Harry Kane, with the England captain collecting over £400,000-a-week.

As well as Kane, eight other Bayern players are listed as earning more than Olise, including Joshua Kimmich, Thomas Muller and Manchester United-linked Matthijs de Ligt.

De Ligt is believed to be a key target for United this summer, with the defender having already held talks with manager Erik ten Hag.

But Bayern may have already recruited his replacement in Ito, while they are also linked with the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah, who is entering the final 12 months of his deal and has refused to sign a new one, according to Sky Germany.
