France’s win against Austria at Euro 2024 saw an ex-Premier League star steal the headlines for a bold new look.
Didier Deschamp’s side kicked off their campaign with 1-0 win against Austria after Maximilian Wober turned Kylian Mbappe’s cross into his own net.
France had more shots on goal than their opponents, with Mbappe missing a huge chance to double their advantage, but Austria held their own in a nervy affair.
Despite the action on the field, a former Premier League star went instantly viral while on punditry duty when fans saw his daring new look.
On duty for Fox Sports, former Everton forward Landon Donovan was providing analysis but made headlines for his hairstyle.
Fans were completely stunned and here is how they reacted on social media.
One fan said: “This has to be edited somehow.”
Another fan said: “Landon Donovan gives absolute zero f****, & you know what, I respect that”
A third added: “This can’t be real.”
Furthermore, a fourth fan added: “Landon Donovan, just let it go mate.”
Users on X suggested Donovan might be preparing for a hair transplant which would explain the need to shave a patch of his hair.
The former United States international had two spells in the Premier League with Everton, making a total of 17 appearances.
He scored two goals but remains fondly remembered on Merseyside thanks to his hard-working attitude.
Donovan retired from professional football in 2014 and is one of the most influential American footballers of all-time.
After retirement, Donovan took his coaching badges and is a regular pundit for both ESPN and Fox Sports.
He admitted his spell at Goodison Park was the most enjoyable of his entire career.

He wrote for Everton’s official website: “For all those fears, though, I was never going to turn down an opportunity to play for this Club.
“And, without question, the second time was just as good as the first.
“I settled straight back in and had great fun. Goodison was on fire again when we beat Manchester City and Chelsea, providing the most amazing memories.
“I can say with absolute certainty my spells with Everton were the most enjoyable of my career.
“Sure, I take some credit for making them work. I’d previously been in Germany but never really got going.”Featured Image Credit: Geoff Shreeves X/Fox/Getty
