Man Utd already have secret weapon who could be the perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s system

Manchester United could already have a secret weapon within their squad which could be perfect for incoming boss Ruben Amorim.

On Monday morning, it was confirmed that United had parted ways with Erik ten Hag.

A club statement read: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”

Hours after Ten Hag was sacked, it was reported that United had set sights on Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim as their preferred replacement.

With Amorim set to swap Lisbon for Manchester, the Portuguese’s preferred three-at-the-back formation has been one of the main talking points.

Amorim tends to play with wing-backs and with Luke Shaw currently injured, youngster Harry Amass could be given a chance to shine.

As per Academy Scoop on social media, the young defender could be a perfect fit for Amorim.

They wrote on X: “In light of the Amorim news, I predict that Harry Amass will feature prominently for Manchester United in the coming months. From the little I’ve gathered about Amorim’s system and youth philosophy, Amass would be a great fit in his left-wing-back role.

“The Watford-product’s problem solving ability in tight spaces on the touchline and preference for high and wide progression suits Amorim’s demands. A back-three defensive structure reduces the defensive burden placed on Amass which could aid his immediate integration into the side. One to keep an eye on.”

When asked about joining United, Amorim said: “There is interest from Manchester United, there is the payment of a contract term and when I have something more solid, I will come here and tell my position, because it will be my choice.

“While I don’t have everything decided, for one side or the other, I can’t tell much more.”Featured Image Credit: Getty
