The Premier League Match Centre social media account has issued an explanation on why Lisandro Martinez was not sent off during Crystal Palace vs Manchester United.
On Saturday night, United and Palace played out a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park.
The Red Devils had more of the ball possession and should have come away with three points but failed to put the ball past Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
During the second half, United central defender Martinez made a rash challenge as he jumped two-footed into Palace man Daichi Kamada, luckily for the Argentine, he made no contact with the Japanese international and was only shown a yellow card instead of a red.
However, fans on social media felt Martinez should have been sent off for the challenge.
The Premier League Match Centre wrote on social media: “The referee issued a yellow card to Martinez for a challenge on Kamada. VAR checked for a potential red card and confirmed the referee’s call of no red card, deeming this was a reckless challenge and made no contact with Kamada.”

Former Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “I am amazed that Lisandro Martinez was not sent off for that tackle, it could’ve broken Kamada’s ankle and it’s not the tackle we want to see in our game.”
Speaking after the match, United boss Erik ten Hag said: “That is very difficult for a goalie to be there in the moment you needed, Dean Henderson also played a very good game, how many balls he stopped. He was in a rhythm, but Andre has to wait and keep the focus and in the right moment, you have to be spot on and did brilliant.”
“We have worked very hard as a team to be defensive, compact. We’ve worked on pressing and you see the benefits from it but also, on the ball, we are very constructive and we have control and that also, we take the breath of the opponent away.”
