Victor Osimhen’s deal at Galatasaray contains a rare and specific clause that could bring about another saga in January.
The Nigerian striker was heavily linked with Al Ahli and Chelsea in the summer and the subject of deadline day bids from both.
The Saudi Pro League side did have a bid of £67.3 million accepted by Napoli but only had room for the signing Ivan Toney from Brentford.
Chelsea did not match Osimhen’s wage demands and so he was left in limbo at Napoli, who removed him from the squad and stripped him of the No.9 shirt.
Romelu Lukaku inherited the number after linking up with Antonio Conte once again.
But then, in a shock twist, Turkish champions Galatasaray offered a solution as their transfer window runs until September 13.
They promptly agreed a loan without a fee, only paying Osimhen’s €10 million yearly salary.

The former Lille man arrived in Istanbul on Monday evening and was mobbed by Galatasaray fans.
But it’s emerged that Osimhen has asked for a break clause in his contract with Galatasaray, who have granted his wish.
Turkish outlet A Spor say the clause applies to a total of 10 specific clubs. If any of the unnamed teams submit an offer in January, he will therefore have permission to leave.

In a bid to make a permanent transfer from Napoli happen, Osimhen has also asked that his release clause be reduced from €130 million to €75 million.
His contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona expires in June 2026 but it’s safe to say Osimhen has played his final game for Napoli.
Osimhen signed for the Partenopei in a club record £65.6 million switch back in 2020.
He went on to score 76 goals in 133 games, including 31 in all competitions during their 2022/23 Serie A title triumph.
