Jadon Sancho’s impressive start to life at Chelsea continued during the Blues’ 3-0 win at West Ham and the Manchester United loanee equalled a record that took him seven months to achieve at Old Trafford in the process.
Chelsea ran out comfortable winners at the London Stadium thanks to a first-half Nicolas Jackson brace, with Cole Palmer netting a third early in the second half.
Sancho teed up Jackson’s smartly-taken fourth-minute opener against the Hammers by playing the striker in down the left-hand side before the Senegalese frontman raced clear before slotting the ball underneath Alphonse Areola.
And in the process, Sancho helped set a piece of history that took him seven months to achieve during his troubled opening months at United, with fans quick to comment on his latest performance.
The assist was his second in as many matches for Chelsea, having set up Christopher Nkunku’s late winner at Bournemouth a week earlier and it was a tally that took him far longer to achieve in United colours.
Having arrived in a blockbuster move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, he registered his first assists for the club the following February with two in the same match against Leeds United in a 4-2 win.
His third assist for the club arrived just three games later against Tottenham before injury curtailed his debut season at Old Trafford.
His first goal for the club was coincidentally in a 1-1 draw against his new club at Stamford Bridge and his overall tally in a United shirt stands at 12 goals and six assists but he is unlikely to add to that having been exiled under Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman froze Sancho out of his first-team plans after a public fallout with the winger, whose wish to leave the club once again – following his promising spell with Borussia Dortmund last season – was eventually granted on transfer deadline day last month when Chelsea rubberstamped an 11th-hour loan deal.
The final nail in his coffin came in United’s Community Shield defeat to Manchester City as he missed a decisive penalty in the shootout to see City come out on top in the season curtain-raiser.
